Beginning ARR $100M · Planned ending ARR $120M · Actual ending ARR $112M
Variance shown is to plan, not total ARR. Reactivation is on plan and contributes no shortfall in this example.
New business ARR
Win rate: 30% → 22%
A decline is a symptom, not proof of why conversion changed. Test these explanations before committing resources.
01 · Segmentation
Did the opportunity mix shift toward lower-fit customers? Compare like-for-like segment and cohort win rates.
02 · Competitive position
Are losses concentrated against specific competitors or product gaps? Validate loss reasons independently.
03 · Pricing
Did price objections increase after controlling for customer size, discounting and competing offers?
04 · Sales execution
Are comparable teams converting differently after controlling for territory, sales cycle and deal mix?
Attribute the $4M New ARR gap among pipeline volume, win rate, ARR per win and timing (including interactions). Do not assign all $4M to conversion without a validated bridge.
The CEO view will drill down to shared data and role-specific operating drivers. The eventual CRO, PS GM, CFO and CCO views will reuse reconciled definitions rather than maintaining competing metric calculations.
